Dr. Robert (Rusty) Turner MD, MSCR, QEEG-D, BCN

Dr. Robert “Rusty” P Turner is Owner and CEO of Network Neurology LLC, an integrative neuroscience center in Charleston SC. Network Neurology is a busy clinical neurology and neuromodulation practice performing QEEG-guided non-invasive neurofeedback. As a neuroscientist with 30 years experience, Dr Turner is a clinician trained in clinical neurophysiology, child neurology and neurodevelopmental medicine, adult neurology, epilepsy, and electrodiagnostic medicine, as well as pediatrics, clinical research, biostatistics, and epidemiology.

Dr Turner currently holds academic, clinical, and research positions:

  • Academic: Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Neurosciences at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine & Palmetto Health Richland Children's Hospital in Columbia SC.

  • Clinical: Senior faculty of the Department of Community Pediatrics with the Bon Secours Roper-St Francis Hospital System in Charleston SC.
  • Research: Senior Associate Researcher with the MIND Research Institute in Irvine CA.

    Dr. Turner is Board Certificated by the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is a certified member of the American Society of Neurorehabilitation (ASNR), and has numerous specialty board certifications:

While serving as a full-time faculty member at MUSC, he completed the Master of Science in Clinical Research fellowship in order to pursue research interests in neuromodulation and neurostimulation for epilepsy and other neuropsychiatric disorders, and completed 4 clinical trials studying the non-linear effects of music on epileptiform discharges and seizures in persons with epilepsy. He was also involved in neuroepidemiology research involving the neurosomatic sequellae of TBI.

Dr Turner majored in Piano Performance and Foreign Languages in college. While going to Medical School at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha NE, he pursued a Masters in Music Performance degree at the University of Nebraska College of Graduate Studies. He then completed a Pediatrics internship and residency at UNMC. Subsequently, two clinical fellowships were completed, one in Adult & Child Neurology, followed by Clinical Neurophysiology and Neuromuscular Diseases, both at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals in Richmond VA. 

He was a tenured faculty member at Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) for 17 years prior to entering the field of Neuroregulation/Neuromodulation. He served as Director of Clinical Neurophysiology and was a key senior faculty member of the MUSC Comprehensive Epilepsy Center during his years of service there.
