3 Tips to Help You Discover Your Identity & Purpose
Who am I?
We all, at one point in our lives, ask ourselves this question. We are who we are, but unveiling our identity and activating it correctly is crucial to a life well-lived; it is the theme of countless books, both classical and modern, fiction and non-fiction. It shapes some of the greatest masterpieces in the world of art, and characterizes the world of education.
So can you answer the question? Where do you even begin?
It is important to understand that you create your unique reality and shape your brain with your thoughts. You have a unique way of thinking, feeling and choosing—this is your blueprint for identity, or what I call the “Perfect You.” You can’t live in your purpose if you don’t identify your blueprint and operate in your Perfect You.
Although you may not think you do, you actually know who you are! Below are several simple tips to help you start rediscovering that person you always knew, deep down inside, existed:
- Stop comparing yourself to others. Your individual, unique responses are inspired and driven by your individual, unique design, which is reflected in your brain structure. You cannot be anyone other than who you are, and if you try force yourself to change you will never be happy.
- Don’t let your past, or present, bring you down. You are not defined by where you are or where you have been, but where you will be. You are constantly creating new realities with your thoughts. You are the master of your life.
- Give yourself time. As the saying goes, Rome wasn’t built in a day! Development and growth is organic and ongoing, so do not worry if you are not sure what you would like to do, or where you see yourself in 10 years. Discovering your blueprint for identity is a journey, not a destination.
