The Fastest Way to Heal Isn’t Therapy—It’s This (with Dave Asprey)
In one of my most eye-opening conversations yet on The Dr. Leaf Show, I sat down with the incredible Dave Asprey—founder of Bulletproof and pioneer in the biohacking movement—to talk about something that might surprise you: the fastest way to heal isn’t always therapy.
Now don’t get me wrong—therapy is incredibly valuable. But as Dave and I explored in this episode, there’s a whole other dimension to healing that starts with building emotional resilience, learning how to reset the nervous system, and embracing forgiveness in a very practical way.
Emotional Resilience as a True Superpower
Dave shared how he sees emotional resilience as a kind of biohack. And I couldn’t agree more. When you develop the skills to handle stress and regulate your emotions, it transforms your mental health. It’s not just about reacting less—it's about responding better, thinking more clearly, and staying grounded in who you are.
Forgiveness: The Fifth F-Word
One of the most powerful parts of our conversation was about forgiveness. Dave jokingly called it the “fifth F-word,” and we dove into why letting go of grudges is essential—not just spiritually, but neurologically. Holding onto resentment creates chronic stress in the brain. Letting it go? That’s where freedom lives.
How We Can Actually Reset the Nervous System
Together, we unpacked some of the most effective tools for mental reset. Some of my favorites that came up include:
-
Neurofeedback – a tool Dave uses to train the brain for better focus and calm.
-
Somatic practices – tuning into the body to release built-up emotional tension.
-
Mindfulness – creating space for the present moment to reduce chaos in the mind.
A More Complete Path to Healing
What I love about Dave’s approach is how it complements everything I teach. Healing is never one-size-fits-all. It’s not just therapy, or just supplements, or just meditation. It’s about tuning in to your own mind and body, and using the tools that actually work for you.
This conversation reminded me—and hopefully will remind you—that we’re capable of so much more healing than we realize. And sometimes, the fastest way forward is the one that takes us inward first.
